Can my 6 year old learn Reiki?

Q: Can my six year old learn Reiki?

A: Yes, children can learn the system of Reiki.

There are Reiki courses available for children that have been adapted to suit a younger mind and there are books available that discuss the benefits of teaching children about Reiki. Such as: Your Reiki Treatment

In a children’s Reiki course the five elements of the system of Reiki can still be taught.

Children benefit from attunements in the same way that adults do.

Hands-on healing is something children can really understand and probably already practice in their own way.

Symbols and mantras can be taught once a child has a good grip of what the system of Reiki is through practice.

Meditation should not be forced – otherwise children can build up a resistance – but simple meditation is an excellent tool for children to work with. Some children might prefer guided meditation rather than inner contemplation.

The precepts are a wonderful tool for discussion with children as long as you relate them to their own experiences in life.

Remember, if Reiki is universal energy (as most people believe it is) then your child is already a part of Reiki. The child, however, has not learnt the elements that are taught within the system of Reiki (unless your child has picked them up from watching you – which is often the case). By consciously working with these elements, a child’s self-knowledge and personal healing ability can grow. What an amazing support for a young life!

So, if you want to do something wonderful for your kids go ahead and introduce them to the wonder of the system of Reiki.
