About The International House of Reiki
Today the International House of Reiki is a Reiki centre that teaches the system of Reiki from a Japanese perspective in a number of countries around the globe.
The centre teaches all three levels of the system of Reiki under their Japanese names of Shoden Level I, Okuden Level II, and Shinpiden Level III. The centre holds Reiki Retreats; Virtual Practice Evenings for Students; Online Courses and sends out regular online e-newsletters as well as hosting an extensive Student Website.
Yet, the centre's beginnings were in a remote region of the world, the Himalayas. Frans and Bronwen Stiene are the founders of the centre, and began teaching the system of Reiki in Darjeeling, India in 1998. They lived there for a year, teaching and treating people under the auspices of Reiki House. In 1999, they moved to Australia where the International House of Reiki officially began and there they seriously started researching the system from a Japanese perspective. This included travel to Japan and Europe to define the system's origins. This took a number of years as the centre's reputation grew in Australia. It was during this time the first of a number of research books, The Reiki Sourcebook, was published internationally to critical acclaim.
By 2004 the centre was teaching in Europe, North America, Australia and, eventually, Asia. Today Frans Stiene is based in Holland and teaches and travels from there, while Bronwen Logan (Stiene) runs the Tomah Retreat from the Blue Mountains outside Sydney in Australia.
The International House of Reiki is honoured to be able to teach a traditional Japanese system of Reiki called Usui Reiki Ryoho. Usui Reiki Ryoho means Usui Spiritual Energy Healing Method. Frans and Bronwen have formed their teachings under this name as they teach a non-Westernised form of Reiki which attempts to return to the very source of Usui Mikao's teachings. It has been practised in Japan since the early 1900s, long before the system of Reiki left Japan. This particular method includes physical and energy enhancing exercises to help practitioners delve deeper into their Reiki practice. The earlier teachings consider the system not just to be a hands-on-healing practice but one that also focuses on a student’s spiritual path.
This international Reiki centre prides itself on its professionalism, student support systems and strong ethics. Other books by its founders are the critically acclaimed The Japanese Art of Reiki, A-Z of Reiki Pocketbook, Reiki Techniques Card Deck and Your Reiki Treatment.
All teachers of the centre are active members of the Reiki community and are members of Shibumi International Reiki Association founded by Frans and Bronwen Stiene.
It is possible to invite teachers of the International House of Reiki to come to your area to teach. We have special sponsoring deals for organisers to support them in organising and promoting the courses.
